About fly fishing in Patagonia
About fly fishing in Patagonia
Patagonia is consistently ranked among the top three fly fishing destinations in the world. Fly fishermen travel here for trophy trout fishing in Argentina’s crystal-clear rivers and lakes. Trout were introduced more than a century ago into a pristine ecosystem that many compare to the United States before industrialization. With no natural predators, Patagonia trout grow to record sizes.
The weather can be unpredictable, but the scenery is unforgettable: turquoise waters, endless steppes, snow-capped mountains, and the Andes rising on both sides. The most popular techniques are streamer fishing and nymphing, with excellent opportunities for dry fly fishing during the warmer summer months and on smaller rivers.
Beyond fly fishing in Patagonia, visitors can enjoy world-class trekking and taste the legendary bife de chorizo—one of the best cuts of beef in the world.

The species you can catch
The species you can catch
In Patagonia, the most common trout species are brown trout, rainbow trout, and brook trout. But the region is also home to a wide variety of other fish introduced in the past that have found their perfect habitat—among them Pacific salmon, sea-run brown trout, and in some rivers even steelhead.
For anglers, Patagonia is one of the few places in the world where you can target such a diversity of species in pristine waters. Whether you are fly fishing for trophy brown trout, chasing rainbow trout on crystal-clear rivers, or exploring the famous sea-run trout fisheries of Tierra del Fuego, Patagonia offers endless opportunities.
One thing is certain: here you always have the chance to catch the fish of a lifetime.
Our guides are local for two reasons.
First, they know their rivers best.
Second, we believe recreational fishing drives sustainable economic growth in local communities.
We see it as the future of impactful tourism and we support local projects and activists whenever we have the chance.

The best seasons for fly fishing in Italy
The best seasons for fly fishing in Patagonia
The fly fishing season in Patagonia runs from October to March, with the peak months usually in December and January when conditions are at their best. Each period of the year, however, has its own unique opportunities for anglers. From June to October, it is possible to fish Lake Nahuel Huapi, one of the most iconic fly fishing destinations in Argentina. In November, the big brown trout of Nahuel Huapi become particularly active, offering some of the best chances for trophy trout fishing in Patagonia.
April and May bring the famous Limay River run, when huge migratory trout—often called “run trout”—move from the lake into the river to spawn. This is one of the most exciting times of the year for fly fishing in Patagonia, attracting anglers from around the world to target these powerful, world-class fish.
Whether you are planning a trip in spring, summer, or fall, there is always a prime time to experience the best fly fishing in Patagonia.

We firmly believe that fishing should be more accessible and widespread. It’s a fantastic way to explore a destination, connect with local people, and immerse yourself in beautiful landscapes.
That’s why we ensure our guides are ready to teach even those new to this wonderful passion.
