Fly fishing in Umbria is an all-encompassing experience, where you’ll enjoy incredible fishing, delicious food, and breathtaking nature.
Our day begins by exploring the river's best spots, casting dry flies that imitate the abundant mayflies and caddisflies. On the Nera, trout feed near the banks, so you’ll need precise casts under the dense vegetation.
When it’s time for a break, we’ll sit down to a delicious local lunch featuring traditional Umbrian dishes like agnello allo scottadito (grilled lamb) or freshly made pasta. Taking a moment to enjoy a meal this good will feel like a well-deserved reward.
In the afternoon, we’ll return to the river, relishing the hatches that bring wild brown trout to the surface and provide plenty of action. What equipment should I use?
The ideal equipment for the Nera River is a 9ft rod with a 4/5wt line, perfect for precise casting and handling the selective brown trout. If you don’t have your own gear, don't worry—our guide can provide you with everything necessary, including rods, reels, lines, waders, boots, flies, and more.
It’s still important to dress appropriately for the outdoors, with waterproof gear, layers for changing temperatures, and UV protection. While we offer high-quality equipment, you are welcome to bring your own preferred gear if you wish.
