Our fishing in Trentino itinerary takes you to one of the best rivers in the Dolomites, downstream of Lake Santa Giustina, where deep canyons, dense vegetation, and large pools create the perfect fishing areas for these legendary fish.

Lake Santa Giustina is a monument to the power of water, that for thousands of years slowly dug along the Noce river picturesque canyons much loved by canoeists, and that now, harnessed, produces electricity thanks to the imposing dam, forming the largest artificial lake in Trentino.
Catches & Tecnique for Fishing in the Dolomites
When fishing in Trentino, you can find brown trout, hybrids, and grayling, but the marble trout is the true star. Here, large predators lie in wait for their prey, lurking in deep pools or behind massive boulders. The goal is to seek out these marble trout, as this is one of the few places in the Alps, and nowhere else in the world, where you have the chance to catch them.
For the best results, Euronymphing with a 10' #3 rod and heavy tungsten nymphs (2-4.5mm) is ideal for reaching deep pools. Streamer fishing with a 9' #5 or #6 rod and a semi-sinking line is highly effective for targeting aggressive fish. Dry fly fishing works in select conditions, but for small tributaries, a 7'6" #3 rod allows for precision in tight quarters.

We handle the purchase for you. You show up, pick up your rod, and fish. If you're planning extra days on the water independently before or after your guided experience, we're happy to help you navigate the process for those too.
Is this itinerary available as a half-day experience?
No, full-day only.
This itinerary is available exclusively on a full-day basis due to the time required to reach the fishing areas and the nature of the experience. A half-day option would limit both fishing time and overall quality.
Is this experience private or group-based?
This Rod Society experience is strictly private and we don't do mixed groups. Your itinerary is fully crafted around your specific group and skill level. Whether you are traveling solo or with a large group, you will have dedicated private guides to ensure a seamless, high-touch experience.
What equipment should I use?
The versatility required for marble trout often means carrying two setups: a 10ft 3wt specifically balanced for Euro nymphing and light dry fly work, and a stouter 9ft 4 or 5wt for punching out streamers.
If you don’t have your own gear, don't worry—our guide can provide you with everything necessary, including rods, reels, lines, waders, boots, flies, and more. It’s still important to dress appropriately for the outdoors, with waterproof gear, layers for changing temperatures, and UV protection. While we offer high-quality equipment, you are welcome to bring your own preferred gear if you wish.

The nearest airports to this fishing adventure are Verona Airport and Venice (Venezia) Airport. Milan is a 3-hour drive away.
Do your guides speak English and other languages?
Yes, all our guides are locals and are trained to communicate effectively with an international audience. They are fluent in English and the local language, and many of them speak additional languages to ensure a seamless experience for everyone.
What happens if the weather is unsuitable for fishing?
If our guides determine that the weather or water conditions are unsuitable for fishing, you will receive a full refund. Alternatively, we can reschedule your trip for the soonest available date that works for you.
