Atlantic ocean fishing in Brittany
The French Atlantic coast is legendary. Here, long white beaches alternate with dramatic cliffs, ancient lighthouses, and small picturesque fishing villages.
In these waters — the same waters crossed by American troops during World War II — you’ll find large Atlantic sea bass feeding on sardines and baitfish offshore.
You can target them on the fly, using intermediate or sinking lines, or with spinning gear. This itinerary is easier than shore-based fishing and offers a fantastic way to experience the Breton coastline from the water, far from the crowded summer beaches. We’ll navigate just a few meters off the coast, casting toward the cliffs and rocky structures where sea bass hunt.
We’ll enjoy typical local dishes on the boat and spend the day cruising along the coast. The goal is not only great fishing but also living a truly Breton day: boats, rods, fresh sea air, and a glass of cider.

Atlantic ocean sea bass fishing and tecnique
Brittany’s sea bass range from 40 cm up to 85 cm, some of the largest in Europe, and this region is among the very best places on the continent to target them on the fly and spinning. The population is healthy, tides are strong, and the Atlantic environment gives them easy access sardines, bait fish and crabs.
You'll fish from the boat, approaching with electric engines the schools of sea bass and fishing them with sinking and intermediate lines. You'll have to cast 10 / 15th meters and stripping small streamers and bait fish.
Occasionally, you'll see frenzing on the water: birds diving into the sea and bait fish jumping on the surface pushed by sea bass from below, that's where you'll have to cast for catching the fish even on topwater with popper.
The season runs from May to November, with early and late months offering less selective fish and fewer tourists, and mid-summer usually providing more tourism and highest mid sized bass activity.
