COUPLES & FAMILIES
A day on the water, for both of you.
Fly fishing trips for couples, honeymoons and families, in valleys and on lakes where the one who doesn’t fish has as good a day as the one who does. One of you casts, the other walks, reads or tries a first cast, and your guide looks after you both.
Why it works for two
Most fishing trips are built around the angler, and the partner spends the day waiting at the lodge. These itineraries work the other way around. We chose them because the setting is the point: riverside trails below the Brenta Dolomites, high lakes in the Spanish Pyrenees reached by cable car, a boat on Nahuel Huapi with the Andes on every side, the great loughs of Connemara in the west of Ireland.
The pace is set by the two of you, the walk in is part of the day, and lunch is eaten outdoors. Whether your partner wants to fish, learn or simply be there, the day has room for it.

Already on the water
We guide couples where only one of them fishes, and partners who pick up a rod for the very first time. Some of our clients have even chosen one of these days to propose.
Every trip is private: just the two of you, or your family, with your own guide.
“One rod, two people, a whole valley to yourselves.”
Where to go together
Five trips chosen for the scenery, the pace and the time off the water.
Riverside trails through the Brenta Dolomites, where you spot wild trout and Arctic char from above before you cast. The fishing is dry fly and suitable for every level, and the walks range from half an hour to three hours.
For your partner: a guided walk through the Adamello Brenta park, at the pace you choose.
With kids: one of the best fits for families, with walks as short as half an hour.
Days off the water: Trentino wines and Trento DOC sparkling wine, thermal spas in the nearby valleys, cable cars to the high trails of Madonna di Campiglio.
A cable car takes you up into the Spanish Pyrenees, then you walk from lake to lake looking for wild brown trout cruising near the surface. Sight fishing with a dry or small wet fly, or spinning for the bigger fish.
For your partner: a day in the high mountains, with green meadows for a siesta between lakes.
With kids: best for older children and teenagers who enjoy a day of walking.
Days off the water: the Tren dels Llacs railway from Pobla de Segur, the Romanesque churches of the Vall de Boí, the thermal baths of Caldes de Boí.
Hours of hiking with a light backpack and a fly rod, to the streams and small lakes of the French Pyrenees. Wild trout on the dry fly, often sight fished, and a picnic with local products along the way.
For your partner: a real mountain hike, several kilometres on the trail.
With kids: for teenagers who love a long walk.
Days off the water: the castle of Foix, the spa town of Ax-les-Thermes, Cathar castles such as Montségur.
A day on a boat on Nahuel Huapi, from a dock 15 minutes from Bariloche: river mouths, waterfalls and beaches, with a BBQ on the shore at lunch. Spinning from the boat is the simplest start on this page for a complete beginner.
For your partner: Andean views from the boat, a beach BBQ and a rod at hand whenever they want one.
With kids: no walking, and spinning is quick to learn.
Days off the water: the Circuito Chico drive, horseback riding, Malbec tastings and the Seven Lakes Route.
Traditional wooden boats on Lough Corrib and Lough Mask, with a ghillie who reads the wind and chooses the drifts. Wet fly on windy days, dry fly on calm ones, and the mayfly from late April into early June.
For your partner: a day on the water with no walking, in the landscape of Connemara. Bring rain gear: here bad weather is good fishing weather.
With kids: for children who are happy spending a day in a boat.
Days off the water: Connemara drives and coastline, the abbey of Cong, the food and music of Galway.
What makes the day work for two
Built for the one who fishes and the one who doesn’t.
Fish, or don’t
The places come first. While one of you fishes, the other can follow the trail, explore the shore or sit in the sun with a book. A private guide, no other groups on the water, and a day at the pace of the two of you.
A first cast, no pressure
If your partner is curious, the guide gives a basic lesson on the spot: how to hold the rod, a simple cast, how to watch the fly. Gear and licence are included, and on Nahuel Huapi and the Spanish high lakes spinning is an even simpler way to start.
Lunch in the open
Lunch is part of the day, not a sandwich in the car: a picnic with local products in the Pyrenees, a BBQ on the beach at Nahuel Huapi, lunch and drinks by the water in the Dolomites and on the Irish loughs.
Room for the kids
Boat days with no walking, short trails and shores to explore, and a guide who knows how to keep a young child interested. Tell us their ages and we’ll choose the water and the pace around them.
From one day to a honeymoon
Three formats, every one private and built around you.
One day
A guided day of fishing and walking, or a day on a boat, with lunch outdoors.
Easy to add to a trip you’re already planning in Italy, Spain, France, Ireland or Argentina.
The simplest way to try it with a partner who has never fished.
Honeymoons & longer trips
Several days in one region, with fishing days and days off the water.
Three nights in a boutique hotel with spa in the Dolomites, or a week on the seven lakes of Patagonia.
Or a trip built around your dates, with the places worth seeing nearby.
Family trips
Shorter days on gentle water, at the pace of the youngest.
A first lesson for every child who wants one.
Boat days on Nahuel Huapi and in Connemara, with no long walks.
